Step 1 - Your Mission
       
The Legacy of the Aztecs

   Congratulations!  You have been selected as an Archaeologist Intern for the summer, and you have been assigned to the Aztec Studies Program.  You will be traveling to the Valley Mexico to learn about the great Aztec Civilization.

   The work is difficult, the hours are long, and your expedition leader will expect a lot out of you.  But, the rewards are great!

   Your final project at the end of your internship will be to prepare a written narrative and media presentation describing your discoveries!

   Before you make the trip you will need to know what is expected of you. And remember to check out each step of your mission before departing.  That way you won't have any big surprises along the way.  

   Now, first pay close attention to your job description below!

The tasks you must accomplish during your internship are as follows.  Each will be thoroughly explained on the 6 separate steps.

1. Conduct research to discover the following information about the
    Aztec Civilization (Step 2)....

  • where they lived...

  • where they came from...

  • when they lived...

  • how they lived...

  • the structure of their society...

  • their main accomplishments...

  • their language...

  • their religion...

  • other cultures they interacted with...

  • why their civilization collapsed...

  • what they left behind as evidence...

  • what we have in common with them...

  • what we can learn from them.

2. Organize and evaluate the findings of your research (Step 3) ...

3. Draw conclusions about the evidence (Step 4)....

4. Choose a particular characteristic of the Aztec civilization that interests 
    you and write a narrative about what you have learned (Step 5)....
   
5. Create a media presentation summarizing your written narrative (Step 5).  

6. Your Expedition Leader will explain your work will be evaluated ( Step 6).

   
So, put on your hat, climb in your jeep, and head for Mexico!
